Hot off the press! Flooring trends for Summer 2013

As we brush off the final winter cobweb and dust off our sunglasses, now is the time to create the perfect home interior for the summer. Whether you fancy just a few small changes or a total overhaul, you can be inspired by the global trends taking interiors by storm and create a space that will look fresh for many summers to come. 
Here are our favourite trends for the summer:

1) Timber look flooring

If you love the look of timber but want the durability of laminate, you’re in luck. One of the biggest trends in flooring for the summer is laminate timber-look flooring, which has the appearance of timber at a fraction of the cost. Styles include anything from oak to walnut, beech and ash. 

2) Natural materials

This summer, we’ll see more interiors featuring natural materials for an earthy, rustic look. Wood floors are a popular choice, letting you set the tone of a room and create real impact. The wide range of wood floors on offer enables you to choose the species, shade and finish you desire for a completely individual look. 

3) Patterns

Be bold this summer and embrace the patterned look. From art deco checkerboard floors to patterned laminate and herringbone wooden floors, you can easily harness this trend in your interior space. If you aren’t brave enough to deck out your whole kitchen with a patterned floor, consider using it to liven up one of your smaller spaces. 

4) Light and bright

The key colours for this summer are soft whites, greys and silvers. The good news is you can use either laminate, engineered flooring or wood flooring to embrace this trend. These light colours are great for injecting new life into a room, helping to create the feeling of space by making a room feel bright and airy.
