What is engineered wood flooring?

Engineered wood flooring is a type of wood flooring made of 3 layers of timber. Thanks to its solid wood top, some people even consider it a kind of solid wood. However, compared to solid wood flooring, engineered timber can contract and expand more, making it ideal for underfloor heating. Besides, it’s more affordable and can last up to 30 or 40 years.

How to install engineered wood flooring?

For an easy process, you can choose to install a floating engineered wood floor that doesn’t need any nailing down. You just snap or glue the boards together. Thanks to the click system, you can install engineered wood flooring easily by attaching one board to another. If you’re skilled at DIY, you can try it yourself. Here’s a simple how-to guide to help you.

Cand I sand engineered wood flooring?

The top layer is 3 to 6 mm thick. A regular sanding will take about 0.3mm off the surface. So, you could sand engineered wood every 7 or 10 years, and it will still last you more than 30 years.

How to clean engineered wood floors?

You can clean engineered wood floors with a dry mop. Use a damp cloth only occasionally to remove stains. Half a cup of white vinegar in 2 gallons of water should be enough. Make sure you clean the floors regularly and avoid using too many toxic cleaning products that can destroy the veneer.

Can you change the colour of the engineered wood floors?

You can change the colour of your engineered wood floors by sanding and refinishing them. If you want to go from dark to light engineered wood flooring, you’ll just have to decide on the right wood finish.

Regardless of your style preference and whether you seek Oak Engineered Flooring, walnut engineered flooring, or anything in between, our extensive selection of engineered flooring caters to any residential and commercial project need.
