How To Remove Candle Wax Stains Out Of Wood Flooring?

You’ve accidentally stained your floor with candle wax. You’ve probably already done everything you can to remove it, but the result is far from what you wanted to achieve. Probably that’s why you’re searching for an effective method to remove candle wax which will leave no trace on your wood floor. Solution One

The first solution we would like to suggest is re-heating of the wax, so as to make it softer and more liquid, and then remove it without difficulty. There are two possible methods to do so.

1. Hairdryer – this is the most effective and very gentle way of heating the wax. If you’re using a hairdryer, simply direct some heat onto the stain until the candle wax gets into a liquid form again. If you use this method of heating the candle wax, after getting the wax back to a liquid state, try to blot it up until completely removed. You can use for instance ladies tights or stockings or alternatively a gentle nylon scourer. Those are considered the most effective tools for this purpose.
2. Iron – You can also warm iron to gradually make it softer. When using an iron, you will need to get a brown paper bag and get a dry iron, set on low temperature. Place the paper bag over the candle wax stain and then simply iron lightly over it, which will allow the bag to draw up all the wax. In the case of a large candle wax stain, more than one piece of paper may be required, so as to soak all the wax up.

Solution Two

The second solution recommended for removing candle wax from wooden floors is to chill the wax and only then remove it. You need to be very careful when using this solution, so as to avoid the risk of scratching your floor. For chilling down the wax use ice in a freezer bag and put it on the floor in the area which has been stained by candle wax. Ice will harden the candle wax, which will become brittle as a result. Then, you will be able to remove it easily from the floor. However, don’t forget about being gentle, as you may scratch the floor, doing more harm than good.
