You can take extra precautions to extend the life of your floor when it’s finished by remembering these simple do’s and don’ts of floor care:

Don’t dump mop your floor.

Don’t let your pet’s claws go untrimmed.

Don’t walk on your floors in high heels.

Don’t use water or vinegar, wax, oil soap or household cleaners that can dull or damage your floors.

Do vacuum, dust or sweep your floor regularly.

Remove spills promptly.

Place mats inside and outside your external doors to trap sand and grit.

Use are rugs in high traffic pathways.

Install protective self-adhesive pads on the feet of your furniture.

Place waterproof liners underneath potted plants to prevent water stains.

Try to maintain consistent humidity level in your home. Excessive humidity or dryness can cause your floor to swell or shrink.
