If you’re looking for wood flooring, chances are you’re either planning a new build or are in the process of a renovation or floor replacement. Either way, you can be sure, by choosing wood flooring, you’ll get an end result which will be easy to maintain as well as being easy on the eye. Recognised for hundreds of years as a durable and practical flooring solution, wood flooring has seen a real growth in popularity in the last decade or so.

Wood flooring varieties

Wood flooring comes in two main varieties, solid and engineered. No matter which you choose, you can be sure the look will be natural and appealing. Solid wood flooring, as the name suggests, is made up from planks of solid wood cut from the timber of your choice. Engineered wood flooring on the other hand is a flooring option which is made up from layers of plywood which are bonded together and topped with a solid oak top layer. Engineered wood flooring should not be confused with laminate flooring which is a poor imitation of wood.

Prime grade wood flooring

Prime grade wood flooring, as you can imagine is made from some of the finest timbers available. Considered to be the highest grade of wood, prime grade wood comes with a heftier price tag than the other grades simply because trees suitable for this grade of wood are fewer in number and take longer to grow. Recognised for its uniform colour and insignificant knotting, prime grade wood truly is top of the line when it comes to wood flooring.
